Seasoned restoration Cosmetic & Mechanical with Documents, Real Wires, Overdrive, British Heritage Trust info, Family owned 20+ Years, 212 Pictures & 21 documents on our website

Purchased as a restored rolling chassis completely in white and as the BMIHT indicates built new as an Ivory White exterior. Then took a few years to plan the restoration completion. Owner choose to finish restoration by having professionally applied DuPont Blue Chromabase to exterior panels. Owner also was able to find (through BMIHT info) and purchased the original engine (rebuilt) and had installed during the process.

An inspection of this car shows the quality and attention to detail that went into this beauty. The test of time also shows the knowledge and quality that went into the restoration.

The classic lines of the 3000’s are like no other.

DETAILS OF CAR:

• Includes British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Info Letter
• Left Hand Drive
• Wire Wheels
• Overdrive
• Heater
• Adjustable steering column
• Front seat belts

Paint

• Exterior paint performed professionally approx 2007

• Finish is very shiny, polished very smooth, expertly prepared to a high gloss by “Yesterdays Thunder” owned by a Former 1914 Chevrolet Dealers Body and Paint Manager.
• Matches very well all around and owner indicated that nothing has been resprayed since completion

• Paint can indicated a DuPont Chromabase product

• Beading between panels was all replaced during refinish (per owner) and still appears almost new

• A few nicks and imperfections exist including grind marks between wipers (seen under florescent lighting) (see pics)

• upon closer inspection, we did find a small paint bubble located by the right side spear molding and a faint almost undetectable line running along lower left fender (see pics)

Body

• Body is nice and straight and was expertly prepared to be close to laser straight

• We were not able to find even the smallest dented area to point out
• Car / Vin Tag number matches Heritage Trust info (see pics)
• Body Cowl Tag number matches Heritage Trust info (see pics)
• Fits and gaps on painted body panels all appear consistent and proper (see pics)

• Being extremely critical, there is what appears to be a faint line about 6 inches long on the lower left fender behind the tire. Only under bright lights and just the right angle you can faintly see a trace of it.

Magnetic paint gauge

• We took a couple random pulls on each blue painted steel panel. We were able to get a magnetic pull on the hood, 2 front fenders, 2 doors, 2 rear quarters, and trunk lid
• Hood and trunk surround panels are of a non steel material and so we could not get readings
• As typical of high quality body prep and paint finishes, readings were above the 15 mils range and fairly consistent

Bright work

• All of the bright work appears mounted and secured properly.

• Bright work surrounding the windows has a decent reflective quality but when inspected up close in bright lighting, do have some wear and light pits showing

• Bumpers, trunk hinges and latch, rear light bezels, door handles, spears, headlight and blinker bezels, all appear to have hardly any wear and like a car only a couple years old and with very highly reflective qualities.

• Hood emblem and front grill show more wear. Grill shows scratching and blistering chrome on lower surface

Glass

• Windshield and vents have Triplex logo and appear very clear. Windshield has a few pin head sized nicks from normal driving and a slight faint 4”scratch from right wiper that might be improved by polishing (see pics)

• Both door glass have been replaced with new glass purchased during restoration but installed just a few years ago and show no age or wear

• Generally glass shows no DE-lamination, discoloring, bulls eyes, or cracks

Convertible Top

• New top was installed as the restoration was nearing completion or a little before (est 2008-2009)
• Top mostly left in down position and really doesn’t show much age or wear. Color doesn’t show fade, stitching all in tack, soft and supple

• Frame looks like painted during top replace and shows good color

• Back window is mostly clear and zipper works fine, but does have a slight approx. 6 inch tear that has been repaired with proper clear tape for plastic rear windows (per owner) (see pics)

• Top is manual but easily operated by 1 person / No boot included in sale but they can be purchased

• There is an approx. 1/16” sized hole in bottom right rear corner of top that somehow happened. An inside patch would make it almost unnoticeable (see pics)

Interior

• Interior restoration was professionally installed by “RUSS” Upholstery

• Interior is configured like it would have been when built but then the addition of upgraded wooden steering wheel and the raising of the rear mirror that is available by purchase (mirrors were often a little to low for some drivers).

• We see no damage to interior material and carpet has deep coloring and minimum wear

• Seating has good color without noticeable fading. Interior purchased as Buckingham Classics Leather and Vinyl kit with Leather faced front seats and Leather rear seats and arm rest (see pics of Ebay purchase info)

• When the new interior was installed, it covered over the radio hole that still exists should a new owner want to install a radio. The antenna does have a lead running to under the dash

• Dash covering is recent and gauges all look pretty clear. Choke button and air box knobs are a worn a bit Typical Temp lever tip is missing

• Glove box door opens and closes to hold firm but the locking mechanism is not included
• Fold down cargo area is nicely restored and lays down. The locking pin on the left side will require some realignment for it to lock into place

Trunk

• Newer battery with factory cut off switch (operating properly per owner)
• Fuel tank replaced during restoration
• Spare wire wheel and tire secured in place and matching other 4

• The black edge on trunk lip is from mistakenly mounting weather strip during assembly. Owner has supplied original paint to touch up if preferred
• No factory jack and tools included

Tires & Wheels

• Wire Wheels had been powder coated during the restoration and recently received 4 new spinners and a light painting to freshen up

• 5 Tires are Toyo Spectrum 9T9N. All in the size 195-65-15

• 4 Tires on the ground measure approx. 10/32 of tread remaining / spare tire looks to have never been used

• No noticed damage to tires or wheels as can be seen from sides

• Tire codes from pics

Engine compartment

• White engine bay area jumps out and brings life to engine compartment that looks to be much as originally designed

• Battery, alternator and distributor were all installed during restoration completion (by Daryl Wagner now known as Automotive Artistry British Car Service in Hudson Ohio) battery and alternator just recently renewed again

• Texas cooler Fan installed to increase air volume over std 4 blade

• Engine Compression test / Front to Rear / 160,165,162,163,170,171
• Engine number matches Heritage Trust info

Chassis

• Frame looks to be solid without any obvious rust perforation

• Floor pans and inner rockers appear to be free of rust perforation

• Frame is painted in White color (see pic of paint container)
• Owner said the passenger floor and poss others were replaced
• Slight amount of surface rust including where it has made contact with a rack when serviced and coolant leak at one time

• Front main has a little dampness, partial drip between engine, trans, and overdrive (see pics) Owner indicated he will find an occasional drip on the floor

• Dash panel lights / to bright and can’t tell for sure

• Min to Max sliding lever operates
• Knobs beside sliding lever pull in and out-function?
• Heater does seem produce little heat
• Wipers work
• Door crank windows work
• Door outside locking cylinder works with 1 key, pass side only / trunk key works
• Emergency brake works and holds
• Overdrive switch works and Chad operated multiple times on road test
• Top operation- put up and down several times / works smoothly

Test Drive
• Chad drove the car for about 5 miles on a 2 lane including winding roads
• Engine starts up quickly when cold or warmed up.
• Choke operation seems to be proper
• Engine runs smoothly both accelerating or upon deceleration
• Clutch operation seems correct with no chatter, smooth operation, easy gear engagement
• Transmission- All 4 forward gears and reverse seem to work properly and shift back and forth (note 1st is not synchronized and 3rd might need adjustment as little sensitive once in a while or maybe it’s me.
• Overdrive shifts in and out on command
• Brakes operate smoothly and stop you quickly / no indication of pulling or pulsation
• Steering works smoothly and very responsive as you move down the road. You can at times get a slight steering wheel movement possibly associated with tire balancing or Rims not perfectly true (noted in Service order)
• Mileage on the title says “ACTUAL”
• Owner states he has had no accidents with this vehicle
• Car seems to pretty much run and operate as it was designed to
• It is a very easy manual transmission car to drive and have fun
